David, I would like to know if the rear vestibule door was left open when John arrived?
If John was shot inside the vestibule area, from the stairs, then he may have entered from the rear vestibule door if the front vestibule door was locked?
Jay Hastings had a button in reception that he would push to unlock the doors to allow access for residents of the building.
I'm not certain if it was connected to the vestibule doors or another door inside the Dakota?
Did Jose Perdormo witness John enter through the rear vestibule door and is that why his witness statement is not being made public?
He said, "The bullet's pushed John through the door," he didn't say which door.
If bullets pushed John through the door then it wasn't from Chapman's gun, we now know that.
The bullet holes shot from Chapman's gun indicate that John was not directly in front of the vestibule door when Chapman opened fire as he was not struck and when he was it was four times from the front in the left upper chest something Chapman could not possibly achieve.
If Chapman did not hit John did John then run for cover as Chapman fired and missed hitting the vestibule door before escaping through the rear, open, vestibule door?
The rear vestibule door being left open prevents further bullet holes in the glass which would indicate that they were fired from a different angle, such as up on the stairs, as you suggest, which would then have left bullet holes in the glass as evidence.
Crime scene photo's indicate the rear glass in door to be undamaged but it's hard to see from the angle taken to be sure?
Chapman's bullets would also have damaged the rear glass if it was shut. It's difficult to see if that's the case from the crime scene photo's available to view. Modern computer technology could help in analysing the crime scene photo's in more detail to find out more information as these photo's still hold vital clues when using modern technology.
Nobody could predict if and when Chapman would hit John so it seems a risk to have a gunman in the vestibule area, along with Yoko present, as there was never any guarantee John would even make it inside there and what if Yoko happened to be directly behind him?
If Chapman had managed to shoot John earlier it thereby prevents John from moving any further to even get inside the vestibule area.
